This course fulfills the IL licensure requirement for a Alzheimer’s Disease and Other Dementias training
This program will define the terms of dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Significant changes in the brain will be outlined in addition to the 7-stage clinical course as defined by Dr Barry Reisberg. This program will review common communication and behavior expressions and explore resources for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options. An overview of nonpharmaceutical strategies for disease management will be reviewed with a focus on person- centered care approaches.
This program meets the requirements of Public Act 102-0399, amending the Department of Professional Regulation Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois, adding Section 2105-365 which requires that health care professionals to have one hour of continuing education training on the diagnosis, treatment, and care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias per renewal period.
