The Illinois State Water Survey began in 1895 when the Illinois legislature earmarked $4,000 for scientists at the University of Illinois to study the state's water supply. Since then, the Illinois State Water Survey has been a leader in the study of water resources, weather, and climate.

Commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Illinois State Water Survey on Feb. 4 as our expert scientists give a snapshot of critical water and weather issues in Illinois, including:

  • How climate change will affect Illinois communities, and what we can do
  • Understanding flood risk
  • Long-term sediment trends in Illinois streams
  • The Mahomet Aquifer–Past, Present, and Future

This free half-day seminar will be held in Ballrooms A and B at the Illini Union, 1401 W. Green St., Urbana. Doors open at 1 p.m. for a poster session, and presentations are from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served.

Please RSVP by January 28.
