The Lincoln Park Zoo’s Urban Wildlife Institute has been studying wildlife in Chicago since 2010, using a unique, long-term study design intended to collect data to help people and wildlife co-exist in cities. Now that research has spread through an alliance called the Urban Wildlife Information Network to include over 40 cities worldwide (including Champaign-Urbana), representing the largest urban wildlife study ever conducted. We will discuss the formation of this network, some of its findings, and where it might be headed in the future.
