An invasive hybrid cattail species, Typha x glauca (T. x glauca), is expanding across North America and negatively affecting wetland biodiversity. We have been tracking the impacts of T. x glauca expansions in Voyageurs National Park, one of the most pristine wetland ecosystems in the United States, and investigating the feasibility of using muskrats (Ondatra zibethicus) as a native biocontrol. I will discuss our ongoing research in Voyageurs National Park and reveal some of the surprising results we have learned so far.
