Parkland College students have participated in the Undergraduate
Research Symposium at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
(UIUC) since 2013 under the Ethnography of the University Initiative.
This initiative, supported by the Office of Undergraduate Research at
UIUC, has students use a variety of ethnographic, archival, and related
methods to examine their home institutions in its broader social,
political, and historical contexts. Starting in 2022, Parkland students
doing course-embedded research continued this collaboration and
participated in the symposium at their home institution hosted by
Parkland’s Honors Program. In 2023, the Parkland Honors Symposium
welcomed the participation of Psi Beta students, the Community College
National Honors Society in Psychology.
