During this workshop, we will discuss some of the biases and privacy discrepancies of doing research on popular search engines such as Google. Students will leave the workshop with the ability to (1) discuss the social implications of popular web search platforms to develop responsible web search behavior, (2) identify the proper settings to help protect their privacy on the web, and (3) evaluate different sources such as private search engines, databases, and popular search engines when conducting their research. This workshop is a collaboration between the Office of Undergraduate Research and the University Library.
