1:30-4 pm (Latzer Hall University YMCA) “Constructing Transnational Solidarities from Below: Showcasing Two Platforms”

This panel showcases two projects for building transnational solidarity in our times of division. After the two presentation and Q&A please join us for food and refreshments. 

o            “Afro-Asian Solidarities 70 years after Bandung in our emerging multipolar world order” Elsadig Elsheikh, UC Berkeley Director of Global Justice at Othering and Belonging Institute. 

Elsheihk reflects on the present meanings and relevance of the April 1955 Bandung Conference which aimed to build transnational solidarity and alliance among non-aligned states.  

o            “Co-creating Knowledge for Anti-racist and Transnational Solidarity through Radical Practices of Care, Hope, and Humane Urbanisms.” 

Members of the Humane Urbanisms Project collective present on their work to produce digital stories of grassroots activism in Brazil, South Africa, Spain and the US.
