This workshop is being offered as part of the Identity-Centered Career Development (ICD) Workshops Series

Join us for a transformative 60-minute workshop tailored for first-generation college students from diverse backgrounds. In this interactive session, we will explore the importance of inclusivity in the workplace and equip you with the tools to identify and contribute to inclusive work environments. This workshop is tailored to address the unique needs and challenges faced by first generation students, typically belonging to a group historically underrepresented in education which typically includes African Americans, American Indians/Alaskan Natives, Latinx, Pacific Islanders, etc..

In this workshop, participants will engage in a dynamic group discussion to collectively define the key elements of an inclusive workplace and share personal insights. Participants will also participate in an interactive activity to assess their own workplace values and identify what is important to them in a workplace environment. Participants will also learn strategies to advocate for their identity needs in the workplace as well as explore the role of employee resource groups in fostering inclusivity. Participants will gain practical skills in evaluating job postings for inclusivity and diversity. Join us for this empowering workshop, and leave with a deeper understanding of inclusive workplaces, practical tools for assessing company inclusivity, and a personalized list of DEI-friendly companies to guide your career choices. Let's pave the way for inclusive and diverse workplaces together!
