Prof. Hiroyoshi Iwata is one of the leading figures in the development and practical application of genomic selection methodologies. He received his Ph.D. in the Graduate School of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Tokyo, and is currently an Associate Professor at the Laboratory of Biometry and Bioinformatics in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Biology at the University of Tokyo. Some examples of his most recently-published research include the application of genomic selection to specific crops, the use of genomics to improve breeding in citrus, and the application of Bayesian optimization to prioritize the selection of genotypes for pre-breeding.
