The College of Education and Illinois Theatre at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign will present a two-part evening marking the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi titled Gandhi, King and Our World Today

Illinois Theatre will present a staged reading of the short play Unexpected Contact written by Gandhi’s grandson, Rajmohan, a research professor at the College of Education.

The reading will be followed by a panel discussion titled Is the Dream Alive? with James Anderson, Dean of the College of Education; Ronald Bailey, Chair of African-American Studies; and Cynthia Oliver, Professor of Dance and Associate Vice-Chancellor for Research in the Humanities, Arts, and Related Fields. The panel will be moderated by Rajmohan Gandhi.

The event will take place at the Spurlock Auditorium (600 S. Gregory Street, Urbana, IL, 61801) on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 7:30 – 9:00 pm.
