Tired of eating the same things over and over again? Spices and herbs are a great way to help enhance your food and make your typical home-cooked dishes more flavorful. There are thousands of different spices and herbs found in various regions all over the world. However, there are gaps in awareness and utilization of specific spices, especially in healthcare settings. Join us as gives a presentation that will expand your knowledge of spices/herbs from around the world and explore how these spices and herbs might be incorporated into your diet.
Peters is a Health and Kinesiology PhD candidate working in the Aging, Caregiving, and Technology (ACT) Lab at Illinois. She has performed data collection and analysis of a research project involving the awareness and professional use of spices and herbs within healthcare facilities. Peters helped develop a workshop and organized activities for long-term care residents to help them learn more about spices and herbs from all over the world. She has also assisted in the development of an online tool to help Registered Dieticians enhance their dietary assessment process and make it more culturally tailored.
