Data is integral to research, and data management is at the core of best practices in research methodology. Good data management, however, is often overlooked, resulting in wasted time and resources. In this webinar, University Library's Sandi Caldrone and IHSI's Fatima Ahmed will discuss:

  • Life cycle of a dataset, from planning and collecting, to analyzing, sharing, preserving, and reusing data
  • Best data management tips, such as file naming conventions, data documentation, and data storage systems, such as Illinois REDCap
  • Examples of data management pitfalls and how to avoid them

The presentation will end at 1 p.m. For those who have time and want to know more, an additional 30 minutes will be allotted for Q&A. A recording will be shared with those who register for this event.

SPEAKERS

She currently works as an Assistant Research Biostatistician with the Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research and Design (BERD) core at the Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her work includes managing, repairing and resolving, and analyzing mismanaged data for research studies, including multi-year, multi-site, and longitudinal studies.
