Krannert Center’s 50th-season celebrations continue with this special performance by Sinfonia da Camera. Hosted at Krannert Center for 36 seasons, Sinfonia is an integral part of the Center’s history and boasts many notable performances, including this program. Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture is the perfect start to the night with its nod to conductor Ian Hobson’s birthplace. Hobson will then take the stage as both conductor and pianist for Rachmaninoff’s showy and striking Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, as requested by patrons last season. Following intermission, Sinfonia continues its Beethoven cycle with the iconic and crowd-pleasing Symphony No. 5.
