In this program, students will be participating in cultural and historical tours and engaging with local community organizations. Students will be introduced to South African history, politics, and legacy of apartheid; the role of youth in liberation struggle; the post-apartheid society; families and children, educational policy, family dynamics; post-apartheid challenges such as HIV/AIDS, poverty, and crime; and community resiliency with health and food-security.
