The Faculty Mentor Orientation Series is designed to prepare faculty to effectively guide and support student teams in project-based learning environments. This session provides practical strategies for mentoring, setting expectations, fostering student ownership, and navigating common challenges in faculty–student collaboration.
Participants will explore approaches to coaching student thinking, providing meaningful feedback, and supporting team dynamics while maintaining appropriate mentorship boundaries. The session also introduces tools and frameworks that can be immediately applied within courses such as Data Science Projects and other experiential learning settings.
This 60-minute live Zoom session is offered quarterly, with recordings available for those unable to attend. The series is ideal for new and returning faculty mentors seeking to strengthen their mentoring practice and enhance the student learning experience.
