Participants will be introduced to the broad contours of the American work culture and the stereotypes that exist around such a work culture. Participants would also be invited to share their understanding of the differences between the work cultures of the U.S. and their country of origin. This workshop aims to facilitate an enriched understanding of the U.S. work culture and assist the participants in the navigation of intercultural differences to be able to thrive in the American workplace. Participants will also learn about the "Stumbling Blocks to Intercultural Communication" which examines the six causes for intercultural communication breakdown and offers suggestions for how to avoid them.
Together, the presenters will facilitate this workshop to enable international students to understand how an understanding of cross-cultural communication could benefit their interviewing skills as well as their overall adjustment to work in the U.S.
