Applying for a federal grant may seem like a daunting task. This in-person session will walk you through the steps of finding federal grants that are a good fit for your organization, registering your agency, reviewing the grant guidance, navigating the application portal, structuring a multi-year budget, and submitting a competitive proposal. The session is designed for novice grantseekers with little or no experience with finding and applying for federal grants.
PRESENTER: Kristin Olson, Grant Writing Specialist
Kristin Olson began writing grants when she was a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Springfield. After earning her Master’s degree in non-profit organization management, she worked in the non-profit sector for seven years. Kristin provides comprehensive grant writing services through her consulting firm, Grants Galore, which she established in 2006.
She has submitted more than 600 grant proposals and, with a success rate of 56%, has secured more than $207 million in grant funding and government contracts for nonprofit organizations and units of local government throughout the U.S.
Highlights of her work include: scoring 99 of 100 points on a federal grant proposal with no weaknesses cited; securing one of seven 5-year federal grants awarded nationwide; and submitting a winning grant proposal that received 25% of the total funds available statewide.
