New York Times v. Sullivan at 60
April 8, 2024

New York Times v. Sullivan (1964) is among the most important cases for First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and freedom of the press. At its time, the case was also pivotal to the civil rights movement. Today, though, there are calls for the Supreme Court to revisit its ruling. On the sixtieth anniversary of the Sullivan decision, acclaimed author Samantha Barbas joins faculty experts to discuss the case and its future.
