One College, One Book
The University of Illinois College of Law, in partnership with the SBA, BLSA, and the Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Law Library is pleased to host a new initiative to further the racial justice conversation in our community, "One College, One Book." The first book will be Between the World and Me, by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are encouraged to read this book during the month of July, and then we will host a Zoom discussion on August 3rd at noon. There will be some prepared questions to lead the discussion, but we will leave room for questions from the floor.
The initiative will continue throughout the fall, focusing on articles by Mr. Coates for the months of September, October, and November.
We hope you will join us in continuing the dialogue started by the Townhall: Perspectives on George Floyd and Beyond.
Copies of the book are available at the Champaign and Urbana libraries. If you choose to purchase your own copy of the book, please consider buying from black-owned bookstores or Bookshop.org, which also supports local bookstores. If you are in Chicago, check out Semicolon.
