2019 Faculty Fellows Symposium

This event will be a symposium recognizing and sharing the recent work of the Unit's faculty fellows.

Closing the event will be a panel discussion of Sandra Ruiz's book Ricanness: Enduring Time in Anticolonial Performance, moderated by Ghassan Moussawi and with multiple respondents. The hope is that the panel will spark a conversation around the book’s major contributions to multiple fields of study, including but not limited to performance studies, Latinx studies, queer theory and queer of color critique, anti- and de-colonial theory, and feminist methods; in addition, this panel hopes to invite a conversation about writing with and about theory. Each panelist will have 8-10 minutes to present what they find are the major theoretical interventions of the book, the book’s potential as a teaching and learning tool, and then to raise some questions to the author about the book. Sandra will then have 8-10 minutes to discuss/respond to the panelists, followed by a Q&A from the audience.

Refreshments will be provided! Free and open to the public!
