The first half of this meeting is aimed at those newly entering the academic job market this year. We'll discuss how to interpret job ads, which template of the cover letter goes where, timelines for the fall, and using online portals such as Interfolio for the applications process. Two job market candidates from last year have generously agreed to attend the meeting to share their experience and advice with those of you who are new to the process.
In the second half of the meeting, I'll go over strategies for preparing for the job market in the longer term for graduate students who are not yet actively on the job market.
It's particularly important for graduate students embarking on the academic job market for the first time this fall to come to this meeting. Anyone considering applying for academic jobs in the future is also urged to attend, however.
