The Frederick Green Moot Court Competition is the oldest and largest at the University of Illinois College of Law and is named for longtime Professor Frederick Green, who served on the Illinois faculty from 1904 to 1939.
An esteemed counselor and confidant to four deans, Professor Green was also beloved by his students, often providing lemonade during the hot June days of exam week. A respected and influential scholar, he served on the committee that wrote the Restatement of the Law of Agency in 1933.
The Frederick Green Moot Court Competition was named in his honor upon his retirement from the College of Law in 1939. Professor Green's son, the legendary Judge Frederick Green, Jr., a 1951 College of Law graduate who served 42 years in the Illinois judiciary, endowed the competition in honor of his father.
Event is free, and open to the campus community.
