Town Hall: Perspectives on George Floyd and Beyond
We invite you to join a town hall conversation about the murder of George Floyd
and its aftermath. In this moment, we want to provide you with a space to
connect with fellow college of law staff, faculty and students and to provide an
opportunity for you to reflect with us during this time of pandemic isolation.
The killing of George Floyd by a gang of on-duty Minneapolis police officers—
shortly following the brutal killings of Ahmad Arbery and Breonna Taylor and the
racist threat against birdwatcher Christian Cooper to weaponize the police
against him—has left many members of our community angry, saddened, hurt
and bewildered. We are all still processing these events and the deep-seated systemic
and individualized racism they reflect. We do not have all the answers. But we do
know that our community— staff, faculty and students— works better together.
There will be time for comments, reflection, and questions.
