Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the University has decided that all commencement ceremonies will not proceed this May. We will be working with the University as they consider possible alternatives, such as rescheduling or a virtual event, and will provide updates as they become available.

The 2020 College of Law Convocation will be held in the Great Hall at the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts (500 S. Goodwin Avenue, Urbana, Illinois) on May 16 at 4:30 - 6 p.m.

Convocation Reception
6:15 - 7:30 pm
Law Building, Peer and Sarah Pedersen Pavilion

Faculty, graduates, family, and friends are invited to the College of Law for a reception and light refreshments directly following the Convocation Ceremony. Free parking is available at the meters on Peabody and Pennsylvania Avenues, and at University lots surrounding the Law Building. No registration required. The Illini Union Bookstore will have University of Illinois and College of Law merchandise for sale in the Pavilion.

Parking at Krannert

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign graduates wear custom regalia designed specifically for the campus. Academic attire is available for rent through Herff Jones

Students may now place orders for academic regalia online. The last date to order academic regalia online is April 29

Important details regarding the ordering process, fees, and distribution are available online. Please note, students should indicate the following degree levels when ordering caps and gowns:

JD and JSD Students: Doctorate

  • A mortarboard (cap) is supplied with your rental order.
  • Doctorate students may elect to wear a Blue TAM instead of the mortarboard. This option requires that the student purchase the Blue TAM. You will need to order your TAM through Herff Jones to ensure it is the appropriate blue color.
