Illinois preselection allows for U of I students to submit their Mayo Clinic Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) application to a selection committee of Illinois faculty and staff. Up to seven of Mayo Clinic’s prestigious fellowships are reserved for Illinois sophomores and juniors who are seriously considering a biomedical research career as a PhD or MD-PhD. The 2025 SURF application will open on Oct. 7.
