The National Certification Corporation (NCC) Electronic Fetal Monitoring Subspecialty Certification is a competency-based examination designed for licensed health care professionals in the US and Canada who utilized electronic fetal monitoring in the care of intrapartum and antepartum obstetrical patients. Utero-placental physiology, pattern recognition and intrauterine resuscitation interventions are central to knowledge and use of this technology.

Prior to the class, you are required to apply for the certification exam at www.nccwebsite.org 

Proof of examination application must be presented at the first class.

Carol Burke MSN, APRN/CNS, RNC-OB, C-EFM is a perinatal clinical nurse specialist with over 40 years’ advanced perinatal nursing experience as clinician, educator, leader and midwife. Carol is a published author and frequent speaker at national and local seminars. She is active with AWHONN, March of Dimes National Perinatal Advisory Committee, and editorial board for the Journal for Women’s Health. She has received many honors including March of Dimes Jonas Salk award for outstanding nursing leadership and APN of the year from Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Contact hours: This nursing continuing professional development activity was approved for 7.0 contact hours by the Wisconsin Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. There is no conflict of interest for anyone with the ability to control content of this activity.

  1. Criteria for successful completion and receipt of contact hours for this educational activity includes:
  2. 1)Validation of attendance by virtual video,
  3. 2)Participate during the entire 8-hour program by contributing to discussion and testing.
  4. 3)Learner must pass a post-test with a score of 80% or higher for successful completion of the course.
  5. 4)Submit a completed evaluation form at the completion of the day.
