Workshop description: Get up to speed quickly on how to check your documents for accessibility. This workshop will cover what to look for and several tools to help you find and fix accessibility issues. You’ll learn how to scan multiple document types for accessibility issues and remediate them. By the end of this session, you’ll be on your way to creating inclusive documents for all that meet state and federal accessibility standards.
Speaker bios:
Dr. Marc Thompson leads the Training and Education Implementation Team for our campus Title II initiative. He is the Program Director and an instructor for the Information Accessibility Design and Policy program in the Department of Speech and Hearing Science and Assistant Director of Teaching & Learning Experiences at CITL where he leads the Universal Design for Learning team. His book chapter, "Three Approaches to Teaching Accessibility and Inclusive Design" was published in March 2023 in A Guide to Digital Accessibility: Policies, Practices, Tools, and Professional Development.
Lindsey Sharp is a Senior eLearning Specialist with the Enterprise Teaching and Learning Team at Technology Services. She has served the eLearning community for 13 years working with the College of LAS and the School of Information Sciences along the way. Her professional interests include leadership, digital accessibility, open educational resources, human-centered education, and academic integrity.
