WeChat and Weibo are two of the most popular social media platforms in China. In this presentation, Marta Schneider and August Schiess will talk about why we invest in these platforms, the Illinois strategy for social media, and best practices.
PRESENTERS
August Schiess is the director of social media for the university, overseeing the vision and content for the University-level social media accounts. She enjoys strategically using writing, design, photography, and video to tell the Illinois story—and helping others do the same. She received a bachelor's degree in English publishing studies from Illinois State University and a master's in advertising from Illinois.
Marta Schneider is the assistant director for global communication in the Office of the Vice Provost to International Affairs and Global Strategies. She oversees all aspects of Illinois international’s marketing and communication strategy and works with its units to share their global impact stories. Marta earned her B.A. in Asian studies and economics from Knox College and holds an international studies certificate from Waseda University.
