This session encourages students, or potential graduate school applicants, to take a purposeful look at their future, what they want, and how they want to get there. I start by addressing many of the questions that I had when I was trying to figure out if I wanted to go to grad school. Questions like: should I work full time and go to school part-time? Should I be a full-time student? How do I get a graduate assistantship? What is a graduate assistantship? What if there are no Black and Brown scholars in my field? I want to go to grad school, but I don’t know where to start? Do I even need a Ph.D. if not going to work in academics? The list of questions is endless, but I hope to address many of them in this session while providing resources for students to use to help them through their application process.
