Cybernetics and biology share a common focus on the regulation, coordination, and guidance of decentralized systems. Neither, however, can answer how a non-anticipatory process – evolution – produces anticipatory beings. In this month's Critical Cybernetics workshop, Professor Charles Roseman explores this dialectic of controllability and uncontrollability in the evolutionary mechanism.
