Srinanda Ganguly is a PhD candidate in the Art History program at the School of Art and Design, UIUC. She will talk about histories of South Asian architecture, the chhatri – a domed kiosk supported by slim pillars – has long been held to be a Hindu, Rajput architectural element owing to its popular use as commemorative device for Rajput rulers from the 17th century onwards.
