In this talk, Daria Semenova (Slavic Languages & Literatures, UIUC) looks at the early 2000s turn of Ukrainian authors to children's detective stories and adventure fiction to familiarize their readers with topics from Ukrainian history. She will consider stories centered around historic artifacts and places where notable historic events took place – thus promoting a mental map of national space and a narrative of collective memory.
