Sergio Gutiérrez Negrón is an Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies at Oberlin College. His research explores economic discourse, literature, and conservative cultural production in 19th century Mexico. This talk will focus on his forthcoming book Mexico, Interrupted: Labor, Idleness, and the Economic Imaginary of Independence.
