Bring your children to East Asian Bilingual Storytime and enjoy a storybook telling of “Kon and Pon” by Masako Matsuno. This friendship story tells of Kon, a fox, and Pon, a raccoon dog, who live on different sides of a mountain river. Their families have never gotten along, but Kon and Pon’s friendship changes everything.

"Kon and Pon: Part 1"

A small fox and raccoon-dog (tanuki) meet. However, their families forbid them from becoming friends. How will they act? Are they going to overcome this obstacle? This warm-hearted story of friendship shows us how a raccoon-dog and a fox make friends with each other despite of their differences. This story is split into two parts. Please enjoy part 1 of this showcase of friendship.

ある日のこと、こぎつねとこだぬきが出会う。だが、家族には友達同士になることを禁じられている。さあ、どうなるか? 果たして二人の行く末は?

Co-sponsored by The Urbana Free Library and the Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois. You can attend in-person or by watching a live stream of the program on Zoom.  Register in advance to receive a link to watch the program online.
