In 1944 Käthe da Fonseca-Wollheim showed up at the gate of Buchenwald. The SS had notified her of the death of her husband Hermann. Unauthorized, she traveled to Buchenwald in the hope of receiving ashes, answers and one last message. Drawing on documents including original SS correspondence, her granddaughter Corinna da Fonseca-Wollheim reconstructs a story of love, decency and the power of art to sustain us in dark times.
