Abstract
In this talk, we explore state-of-the-art power converters for data centers based on fundamentally different approaches to power conversion. Transformer-based power converters, such as LLC and DAB converters, operate at unity gain with step-down conversion achieved through transformers. Hybrid switched-capacitor topologies leverage capacitive energy storage elements and advanced control to achieve similar step-down performance. The presentation examines the operation of the two approaches and we discuss the benefits of each.
