Abstract
Integrated generator-rectifier system is a promising alternative conversion system for megawatt-class wind turbine. Substantially processing power on the diode bridges significantly reduces the conversion loss. In addition, the overall system cost is lowered while the reliability is increased compared to the conventional full-power converter solutions. These features are very attractive for offshore wind applications.
Maximum power point tracking (MPPT) capability is essential to capitalize the benefits of the integrated generator-rectifier system in offshore wind applications. This talk will explain how electrical
power and mechanical torque control can be accomplished. MPPT is constructed based on these capabilities and demonstrated by both simulation and experiment.
