And Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology
In this presentation, Professor Malhi will discuss the rise of the field of paleogenomics and how we use tools from this field in partnership with Indigenous communities from North America. In addition, he will focus on studies completed in his lab that provide insights into the impact of European colonization.
Ripan S. Malhiās research areas include partnering with Indigenous communities of North America to use genomic variation to infer the evolutionary histories of Indigenous peoples of the Americas including the impacts of European Colonization. He is Co-Director for the Center of Indigenous Science, a partnership between the American Indian Studies Program and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. Prior to his position at University of Illinois, he co-founded and served as the CEO of Trace Genetics, Inc., a biotechnology company located in the greater San Francisco area.
