Karen Simms, Trauma and Resilience Initiative
This elective program offers an overview of the foundational principles of trauma-informed care, designed for students from a variety of disciplines. Participants will explore the impact of trauma on individuals and communities, learn to recognize signs of trauma, and develop skills to create supportive, healing-centered environments. Through lectures, case studies, and interactive discussions, students will gain a deeper understanding of how to apply trauma-informed approaches in their future professional roles, fostering resilience and well-being in diverse settings.
Karen Crawford Simms, MAMFT is the founder of the Trauma & Resilience Initiative, Inc. (TRI), a non-profit organization committed to training, educating, and advocating for trauma-specific services. Through TRI, Karen and her team provide a comprehensive array of support aimed at fostering resilience, healing, and justice for individuals, families, organizations, and communities.
