By William Shakespeare Presentation: 6:30 – 7:15 p.m., Krannert Room
Director Robert G. Anderson Performance: begins at 7:30 p.m., Studio Theatre
Roman general Coriolanus makes his name defeating an enemy army and defending Rome. The Senate nominates him as consul, but he cannot win the people's vote, so he is banished from Rome and allies with his old enemy. He comes to attack Rome, his mother persuades him not to, and his newfound ally kills him for the betrayal. One of Shakespeare’s most brutal and truthful plays, Coriolanus contains soaring language, exhilarating action, and questions for today. Contains adult content.
