Adrienne Dixson
Professor, Educational Policy, Organization, and Leadership and Women and Gender Studies

When we celebrate Juneteenth, is that promulgation of Critical Race Theory, or is it only a part of history we are now officially recognizing? Is recognition of important history essential to understanding where we came from, and how we can better address issues in the future? As schools increasingly become sites of political protests, it’s even more important to understand underlying issues. Come to this session for a discussion of how we can all be a part of educational access and equity.

Adrienne Dixson’s primary research interest focuses on how issues of race, class and gender intersect and impact educational equity in urban schooling contexts. She is also interested in how educational equity is mediated by school reform policies, and how local actors make sense of and experience those reform policies and how those policies become or are “racialized.”
