Join our team of SBIR experts and the FAST (Federal and State Technology) Center of Illinois for an SBIR/STTR webinar event from 2:00-3:00pm on February 24, 2026.
Beyond SBIR/STTR: Exploring Non-Dilutive Funding Sources
Thinking broadly, support for your company can come from many sources beyond the SBIR/STTR realm, including US Agency non-SBIR/STTR programs, state agencies, private foundations, crowdfunding, potential or actual customers, industry partners, and, pragmatically, friends & family. This session explores some of these sources and suggests approaches to tap into them. Presenter Roland Garton draws from many years of practical experience providing business management services to startups.
Share Your Experience: Where have you found funding? When registering, let us know what sources you have found, if any. We will not share any specifics, but may be in touch if we can learn from your experience.
About the Presenter: Roland Garton is a seasoned grant consultant and founder of Garton Consulting Services, specializing in helping high-tech startups and innovators secure government funding. With years of experience working alongside the Illinois FAST Center, Roland has built an impressive track record of guiding entrepreneurs and researchers through the SBIR/STTR grant application process. This is a free, virtual event, but registration is required. The link to the webinar will be emailed to you upon completion of your registration. Recording Notice: By registering for this webinar, you acknowledge and agree that it will be recorded and shared online for public viewing.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are highly competitive programs that encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) with the potential for commercialization. Through a competitive awards-based program, SBIR and STTR enable small businesses to explore their technological potential and provide the incentive to profit from its commercialization. By including qualified small businesses in the nation's R&D arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated, and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.
