Instructor: Linsey Rodenbach
Date/Time: Friday, Feb 20, 2025
Time: 10:00 - 11:30 AM Central Time
Location: Zoom (Zoom coordinates will be provided to registrants before the workshop.)Abstract: This workshop offers a hands-on introduction to quantum computing for participants who are enthusiastic about the field but new to its fundamentals. We begin with an intuitive overview of what quantum computing is, how it differs from classical computing, and where it can provide value, without assuming prior knowledge of quantum mechanics. Participants will then learn how to use NVIDIA CUDA-Q to write and run quantum programs, culminating in the implementation of a variational quantum algorithm that combines classical and quantum computation. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a practical understanding of accelerated quantum supercomputing and the confidence to begin exploring quantum application development on their own.
Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with Python and Jupyter/Google Colab will be useful.
Instructor Bio: Linsey Rodenbach is a Developer Relations Manager for quantum computing at NVIDIA, where she leads strategic partnerships and collaborations with universities and academic research groups. Prior to joining NVIDIA, she was an Application Scientist for Quantum Technologies at Zurich Instruments. Linsey holds a PhD in Physics from Stanford University and is based in Boston, Massachusetts. In her free time Linsey enjoys rock climbing, playing video games, and hiking.
Hands-on participation: We will use Google Colab for hands-on demonstrations.
