About the book:
The book spells out and defends a novel theory of human agency. The theory covers various salient dimensions of agency, spanning metaphysics and epistemology of action, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of psychology. It addresses many of the central and most fundamental questions in philosophy of agency, including: How do bodily actions differ from mere bodily movements? What makes an action voluntary? What distinguishes intentional from non-intentional action? Is agency equivalent to action, or are there passive manifestations of agency? What does it take for someone to count as trying to act, and how is one’s trying related to one’s acting? What is the nature of intending to act? How is collective action to be understood, and specifically how is it related to individual action? What is the difference between mental and bodily action?
