The Department of Communication's first colloquium talk of the year will be led by Mike Yao, professor of digital media in the Department of Advertising and director of the Institute of Communications Research. This talk aims to explore the implications of a transformative shift in human-technology interaction, moving from information retrieval to interactive, conversational dialogues, and its effects on human communication processes. By integrating various theoretical perspectives, the presentation aims to emphasize the urgent need for a comprehensive approach to understanding these evolving modalities. The discussion will highlight the theoretical implications for the field and provide insights into future research avenues in both human communication and technology use.
The event will be held in 1092 Lincoln Hall, with an option to attend virtually for those who cannot join us in person.
