The EFRC for Quantum Materials and Quantum Sensing (QSQM) is hosting Dr. Jessica McChesney for an in-person/hybrid professional development talk. This event is geared toward students and postdocs affiliated with the QSQM, though anyone interested in the event is welcome to attend:
"Careers at National Labs"
Dr. Jessica L. McChesney
Physicist, Advanced Photon Source
Argonne National Laboratory, IL
About the speaker: Dr. McChesney's research is focused on using x-ray techniques such as ARPES and RSXS to study the electronic properties of quantum transport materials, in particular materials that are relevant to nanoelectronics and energy storage needs, like topological insulators, graphene, graphite intercalation compounds and self-assembled nanowires and nanoparticles.
About the QSQM: The EFRC-QSQM center aims to develop and apply nontrivial quantum sensing to measure and correlate local and nonlocal quantum observables in exotic superconductors, topological crystalline insulators, and strange metals. The center is led by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in partnership with the University of Illinois at Chicago and the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
