This seven-hour course provides an introduction to the Microsoft Transact-SQL query language and detailed, hands-on experience writing SELECT queries. This course should be attended by those who have a need to write or understand / modify existing SELECT queries. We will use  SQL Server 2016 but the concepts apply to all versions of MS SQL server and other relational databases. Attendees will learn about the structure of the Transact-SQL query language; the ways that queries may be issued to SQL Server; how to write and troubleshoot SELECT queries; how to work with date, time and string character data formats; how to group data and perform statistical summarizations; how to construct sub-queries to break down complex queries; and how to use standard table joins to retrieve data from multiple tables.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with MS Windows OS; basic familiarity with relational database concepts (tables, relationships).
