Event Summary:
We cordially invite you to join us in paying tribute to the brave men and women who have selflessly served our nation. In the company of fellow military-connected students, staff, and community members, we will come together to honor the heroes of our country.
In collaboration with the University of Illinois ROTC, we have organized a special event featuring a distinguished guest speaker who will commemorate the sacrifices and dedication of our military service members, in observance of Veterans Day.
Featured speaker: Mr. Samuel K. Skinner, Army Veteran
We are honored to introduce our distinguished keynote speaker, Mr. Samuel K. Skinner, whose illustrious career spans both the public and private sectors. A proud alumnus of the University of Illinois, 1960 Army ROTC graduate and Veteran of the US Army and Illinois Army National Guard, Mr. Skinner’s contributions to our nation’s governance are truly exceptional. Notably, his impressive journey includes serving as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation and White House Chief of Staff during President George H.W. Bush’s administration.
What sets Mr. Skinner apart is his multifaceted experience, which includes working closely with the United States Coast Guard during his tenure as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation. His collaboration with the Coast Guard underscores his dedication to enhancing transportation safety and security, showcasing his commitment to safeguarding our nation’s interests on multiple fronts. Join us in welcoming Mr. Skinner as he shares insights from his remarkable career and invaluable during our upcoming event.
