The University of Illinois Classical Trombone Association (UICTA) will be hosting the Italian Trombone Quartet for a residency at UI’s School of Music. Comprised of trombonists from two orchestras in Turin (the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale Rai and the Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino) and one in Geneva (the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande), these leading European orchestral musicians formed the ITQ in 2012 and are embarking on their American tour. For more about the group, including video, please visit their website: http://www.quartettoitalianoditromboni.it/
Their concert repertoire consists of original compositions for trombones, as well as arrangements of pieces from the Renaissance to modern eras, by composers from Italy, Great Britain, Austria, Germany, and even Uruguay. Both the masterclass and recital will be free to the public.
