Abstract

The project of European unification was intended to marginalize nationalist populism. Today, we are witnessing the return of nationalism and national populism both in Europe and the US. By looking at the history of the idea of European unification, Emanuel Rota tries to show the inconsistencies of the European project at the eve of its possible failure. The goal of the analysis is to start an assessment of what is dead and what is alive of the European project today in the age of the revolt of the masses and triumphant ethno-tribalism
